“I look forward to a close examination of Steve’s work, both here in the Legislature and also in his most recent job at the Maine Heritage Policy Center,” says state Sen. Justin Alfond.
Alfond says he is interested in learning more about Bowen’s plans for the Edcuation Department. The Portland lawmaker serves on the Education Committee, which will be holding a confirmation hearing on the governor’s nominee.
“There’s a lot of information out there that has Steve’s name on it, so clearly there’s not many unknowns,” Alfond says. “Two billion dollars is what the Department of Education’s budget is, and so I’m excited that we have a nominee and we’re going to go through the process of vetting this nominee like any other.”
